The Seven Summits are the highest mountains of each of the seven continents. Summiting all of them is regarded as a mountaineering challenge, first postulated as such and achieved on April 30, 1985 by Richard Bass.
Aconcagua (Spanish pronunciation: [akoŋˈkaɣwa]) is the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,960.8 m (22,837.3 ft). It is located in the Andes mountain range, in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, and lies 112 kilometres (70 mi) west by north of its capital, the city of Mendoza. The summit is also located about 5 kilometres from San Juan Province and 15 kilometres from the international border with Chile. Aconcagua is the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres. It is one of the Seven Summits.
Aechmea distichantha (Brazilian vaseplant, vase plant) is a bromeliad typical of Cerrado vegetation in Brazil, which is also native to northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This plant is often used as an ornamental plant.
